Medieval Times

Scenario: |
|
The sixth grade Humanities class has been asked to create a
castle that will depict the life and times of the Middle Ages.
After researching various aspects of the times, you will built
a castle that will become a virtual tour of the Middle Ages.
You will present this castle and your learning to the 5th
grade classes as well as to your 6th grade classmates.

Tools and Resources:

We will make use of the many fine books in our Media
Center, plus books checked out from your local library.

Activities:
|
|
1. After discussing the goals, students will
be given specific topics to research. The grading rubric and
its implications will be addressed.
|
|
2. Students will also be assigned particular
areas of the castle to research. They will be given a handout
with details and dates.
|
| 3. The class will
brainstorm methods of construction , decide on a model type,
create a supply list, and form construction crews. |
| 4.
Students will read print material, view videos, and use the
websites provided to gain information on their assigned
topics. |

5. The class will design and create a castle
model that reflects the life and times of the Middle Ages.
|
|
Project Sharing:

|
|
You will conduct virtual tours through your
Medieval castle. At that time, you will come dressed as
a person from the Middle Ages. During the
"tour" you will be expected to explain your specific
topic of expertise as well as your assigned castle area.
You will be conducting tours for your 6th grade classmates and
the 5th grade classes.
