+ Setting up Class Groups in PowerGrade?

Class Group-3871_148x109Creating and Using Class Groups The Class Groups feature of PowerGrade helps teachers automate the creation of identical assignments across multiple sections of the same course that are taught during the same term. Using class groups helps gets your teachers up and running quickly, so they can focus more time on teaching the assignments instead of setting them up in PowerGrade. To create Class Groups: Determine which sections you wish to include in the Class Group. All sections must occur during the same term. Open one of the classes to be included in the group. From the Windows menu, select Class Information. Enter a name for the Class Group and click Submit. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each additional class you wish to add to the Class Group. When entering the name of the group, it must be an exact match to the original Class Group name. Assignments will not be distributed to sections whose Class Group names are not an exact match. After entering the Class Group names, open any of the classes in the group. From the Windows menu, select Assignments. Click New to create a new assignment. Note that the View Group button is accessible, along with the checkbox labled Apply to other classes in group. Clicking the View Group button will display a list of the other sections with matching Class Group names. Create a new assignment normally, but check the box labeled Apply to other classes in group. Click Accept. The new assignment will be created in every class in the group.

+ How to use assignment weighting

Assignment Weighting Assignment Weighting is an optional feature that allows teachers to modify calculated point values of assignments with weight multipliers without changing "points possible" values. Examples: An assignment worth 10 points with a Weight of 1 (default) will count for 10 points. An assignment worth 10 points with a Weight of 2 counts as 20 points (10 points x 2 weight = 20 points). An assignment worth 10 points with a Weight of 0.5 counts as 5 points (10 points x 0.5 weight = 5 points). To define Weight for an assignment: Open any class in PowerGrade. From the Windows menu, select Assignments. If you have already created at least one assignment, choose one to change its Weight valuer. Once selected, you will notice that the "Weight" field, by default, will have a value of "1" already entered. From here, you can modify that value to whatever you need. After modifying the "Weight" value, make sure that you click "Accept" before closing the window, or the changes will not be saved.

+ How to create extra credit assignments

Teachers can create extra credit assignments in PowerGrade. With these assignments, the points earned will count toward a student's grade, but incompletion will not penalize the student. Follow the steps below to create an extra credit assignment.

1.Choose an available class from the Classes menu

2.Choose Assignments from the Windows menu

3.Select an assignment or create a new one

4.Set the Points Possible to 0

Students who do get a positive score on the assignment will have the points applied to their current grade. The assignment will not count against students who do not do the assignment.

+ What are Web Assignments in Powerschool Teacher? How do I create them?

Answer: The Web Assignments feature is a function of PowerSchool Teacher that has been designed for Schools that are also using the Powergrade application. Using PowerSchool Teacher, teachers can create Web Assignments that will be later downloaded into their PowerGrade and removed from Powerschool Teacher. Teachers can also enter student scores for these assignments which will be downloaded into PowerGrade.

Note: In order to use Web Assignments for a class section, Powergrade must be setup first. Assignment Categories must already be created in PowerGrade in the specific class section in which you wish to create web assignments. For more information, please review the following Knowledgebase article regarding Creating assignment categories. Once Assignment Categories have been created in a class section and they have been saved to the server, creating Web Assignments is simple: First, login to PowerSchool Teacher.  If you wish to enter student's scores for this assignment, enter their numeric score(s) in the list of students below "Scores."
Click the submit button to create the assignment. The next time Powergrade is opened, it will download the assignment and any entered scores for the assignment. Note that once Powergrade does this, the assignment will be removed from PowerSchool Teacher.
