Scenario:

Our school's principal, is concerned about the
students' understanding of American history. He has asked the fourth grade students
to prepare a virtual timeline of our country's history. He would like you to start
with the discovery and exploration of our country and continue up to 2001..

Activities:

After presenting the scenario, students will brainstorm information they
need to develop in order to respond to the scenario |

2. Do a KWL chart |
| 3. Class
will read and discuss units 1 through 3 in "We The People" book
and view video series "America's Beginnings" |
| 4.
Participants will decide on topics to be displayed on timeline |
| 5. Students
will form cooperative research groups (possibly partnerships) based on
specific topics |

6. Students will read print
material, view videos, and use the websites provided to gain information
on their selected topic |
| 7.
Students will create a 3-D word wall with selected vocabulary |
| 8. Each
group will demonstrate their learning by designing a piece of the
timeline. |
| 9.
During the final presentation each student group will present their
contribution to the rest of the students. |
Project Sharing:

Each group will present your piece
of the timeline to the rest of your classmates. Your piece
should include a graphical demonstration and an oral presentation. You will be given specific parameters for both of these activities. |
